eat real food. mostly plants. not too much. (Michael Pollan)
while i love the simplicity of the message above (and you already know i am a shameless crossfit enthusiast), i believe firmly that your gut is your best guide. notice what feels good / what doesn't. what fuels you / what fatigues you? YOU are your own best guide, and you know your body better than anyone else ever will. notice and honor your cravings, and let your body guide you towards the eating patterns that facilitate you LIVING your best quality of life.
"but I don't know where to start!"
Ok, try this recipe to start pan roasting vegetables that taste good (you can use this same strategy and play with the spices to change the flavor; I like to roast until they are crunchy and burnt).
Add protein - chicken, eggs, tofu, you pick, +/- carb-denser veggies or rice as needed for activity levels and hunger, and THAT IS A MEAL!

notes on food sourcing
how was it bred?
what was it fed?
where was it led?
these are questions to ask particularly when it comes to fish and meat. i seek out meat that has been responsibly raised and harvested. the best meat is when you know the hunter, the fisher, the rancher, the farmer. when you know the story of where your food came from, and how it landed on your plate, you are more connected to your food.
