dear future healer,

remember that how you do one thing

is how you do most things.

i know you wake up ready

to mend, connect, and love

armed with your big heart and rolled up sleeves.

but before you wade out into this bleeding world

remember the slow and patient way

of healing.

remember that you, too, deserve the slow and nourishing patience

you give so freely to your patients.

before you wade into our wounded world

may you give yourself the gift

of

space and time to wander

and wonder.

for

your work is loving the world,

so that you might love yourself better,

so that you might love your patients more.

dear future healer,

how you do one thing

is how you do most things

and you deserve to heal, too.
